Opening Reception: Saturday, February 16

Hygienic Art is pleased to exhibit the work of
Connecticut artists Claudia Cron and Ken Steinkamp.
A collection of drawings, paintings, and prints.
Cron's Private Branches transforms the inherent structure of the Quaking Aspen into momentary views that unites the human, animal and vegetal. These scenes similarly evoke primal myths connected with trees and the delicate identity of endangered forests. Lines and Layers relates to Steinkamp’s process of using a variety of tools, to layer and probe and line these surfaces of paper and canvas. Sanders, trowels, sharp objects, grinders, and scrapers are used along with graphite, pastel, tar, paint, and plaster are applied in an evocative lyrical, probing way. The result is a painting drawing or print that is layered, rich in abstract line, texture and form, commanding the viewer to pause and reflect.
